There are a few things to consider when you're having a logo created for you. First and foremost is that you end up with a final product that you are pleased with. I've been told before that I would be the client from hell because I'm such a perfectionist, but if you are paying for a graphic to represent your company, you should be absolutely giddy about it before you accept the final version.

When you are discussing the project with your designer, it's highly recommended that you ask for it to be created in a Vector Based program. This will allow you or your service provider to increase the size of the logo as needed without compromising the quality of the final product, whether it's for print, web or signage. It is also important that you receive electronic copies of the native file format (file saved in the application used to make the logo such as Illustrator or CorelDraw), as well as an .eps file and two .jpeg files - one high resolution file and one low resolution (web) for your future convenience. I'll explain more about file types and resolution later. For now, your designer will know what you're talking about when you ask them for those types. If they don't, you don't want them for a designer!!!

You should also always keep a copy of this on disk or another storage medium in a separate location from your computer - just in case! More to come later...It's after 4am.
